Advanced logistics software from Paragon Software Systems has enabled Interfloor to centralise its entire UK route planning operations, reducing transportation administrative time by 35% and cutting transport operating costs.
The flooring products specialist uses Paragon’s route planning software to optimise its nationwide delivery operations to a wide range of retail and wholesale outlets, including Carpetright, B&Q and the John Lewis Partnership.
Interfloor has two sites – Haslingden, Lancashire and Dumfries, Scotland – both holding stock. Prior to installing Paragon, the sites operated independently as it was not possible to coordinate planning operations. With the implementation of Paragon’s software, the company has been able to consolidate its planning, allowing greater coordination between sites. The software automatically and accurately identifies the best routes, sequences deliveries and selects the most appropriate warehouse.
“Without Paragon’s route planning software it would be impossible to plan and execute our deliveries from Haslingden and Dumfries in parallel. The software allows a single planner to produce optimised daily plans that ensure we are maximising the efficiency of our own fleet as well as managing our subcontractors more effectively. It has consolidated our transportation operations, saving us time and allowing us to turn around orders within three days,” says Shane Kenny, Logistics Manager, Interfloor.
Paragon has had significant impact in other areas of Interfloor’s logistics. “The software also allows us to optimise our trunking and it enables us to run a smooth cross-docking operation. Again, this is a situation that has been simplified by the Paragon’s Integrated Fleets route planning software.”
“In addition, we have had continual support from Paragon to further tailor the system configuration as our needs evolve. This means that we have ongoing confidence in knowing not only that we will always run a fully optimised delivery fleet, but also that the software will always keep in step with our evolving operation,” concludes Shane Kenny.
