Liberty Wines, an importer and wholesale distributor of premium wines, is hailing the success of Paragon’s routing software in providing efficiency and service improvements.

During the Olympics and Paralympics, the London based company used Paragon’s special Olympics planning pack to run efficient daily and nightly deliveries for London customers. The special digital mapping enabled Liberty Wines to identify customers affected by the Olympic Route Network (ORN) and provide an enhanced level of service, while evolving its order picking and delivery operations.

“The restrictions caused by the Olympics and Paralympics created an opportunity for us to look at how we run our London delivery services and make some radical changes. Paragon’s routing software allowed us to identify all our affected customers that were within 1,000 metres of the ORN. For daytime deliveries, we could contact affected customers, ensure they understood the issues and tell them when we’d expect to deliver their orders. Paragon enabled us to enhance our night time deliveries too. Instead of simply offering a blanket midnight to 6 am service, the routing software allowed us to offer midnight to 6 am, midnight to 3 am, and 3 am to 6 am deliveries,” says Ben Marriott, Customer Services Manager.

“Paragon gave us the ability to capture the delivery requirement at the point of order and put into the system. Very restrictive deliveries such as those made to customers in the Westfield area next to the Olympic Park had to be diverted to a consolidation centre at certain times and we couldn’t afford to miss the delivery window – otherwise our customers would not receive their wine. The routing software took this information and calculated the most efficient routes that allowed us to cope with all the various constraints,” he adds.
