The Institute of Directors (IoD) has selected William Salter, MD of Paragon Software Systems, as a finalist in the 2012 London and South East Director and International Director of the Year Awards for companies up to £24.99 million turnover.

Salter is now through to the final round in both categories.  More than 200 nominations were received by the IoD for this year’s awards, which will celebrate the very best in industrial leadership and direction among businesses based in southeast England.

Paragon, the Dorking-based logistics software company, has been in business for more than 20 years and continues to expand both its UK user base and its international footprint.  Its customers include ASDA, Royal Mail Group, Morrisons, Musgrave, AB Agri, Harrods, Sainsbury’s, DHL, John Lewis, Tesco and Raleigh. Logistics companies and in-house transport departments use Paragon’s advanced software for efficient and cost-effective routing and scheduling of their fleets, which cuts transport costs, improves productivity, reduces planning time and raises customer service levels.

“I am very pleased to have reached the final round of the awards. Getting this far in the IoD awards helps to highlight our success over the last 20 years since we established Paragon Software Systems. In that time we have seen the company grow strongly and we now have more than 1,500 systems installed across 38 countries,” said William Salter.  “We have a great team of dedicated people who pull together to provide market-leading software products that route tens of thousands of delivery vehicles every day, many of which perform essential deliveries to supermarkets, high street stores and manufacturers,” he adds.

Paragon dedicates 100 per cent of its business to the continued development, implementation and support of its transport optimisation and execution systems. In addition to its UK activity, the software is marketed and supported in North America by its wholly owned subsidiary, Paragon Software Systems Inc, and the company’s international customer base extends worldwide.

The IoD award winners will be announced on 29 March 2012 at the institute’s Gala Awards Dinner.
