Paragon Software Systems headquartered in Surrey, is sponsoring Marie Curie Cancer Care fundraisers “The Saddle Sore Sisters”, a novice horse riding duo from Sussex.
The Sisters – Mary Braddock and Caroline Ingham – are preparing themselves for the Tri Jordan challenge, an epic cross country trek from Amman to Petra that will take place in April 2011. The riders will cross 150 km of hard packed tracks, sand and hills – spending up to six hours a day in the saddle. The horse riders have already smashed their joint pledge target of £6,000 and have set their sights on raising a total of £10,000 for the cancer care charity. Donations have come from business sponsors, family, friends and members of the general public.
“Our main challenge, apart from the event itself, is to raise as much money as we possibly can for Marie Curie Cancer Care. We have never ventured this kind of distance before on horseback and the desert conditions will undoubtedly test our riding and physical ability. All of the money we raise will help with caring for terminally ill people at home and more specifically the money raised will be going towards looking after patients in the Sussex area,” said Caroline Ingham.
“This is a great cause and is in memory of close friends and family who have died from cancer. Paragon and many others have contributed greatly to our fundraising. We are also grateful for media support from BBC Radio Sussex and the local press in helping raise the profile of our venture,” she added.

When we learned Caroline and her friend Mary planned to cross the Jordanian desert on horseback, we were happy to get involved with sponsoring their venture.
